DJ Jonathan "Russell" Sherman is a Disco/Funky/Jackin House DJ and Producer from New York, NY. From the time Russell was very young, where his dad gave him a Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue album to ease the pain of losing a loved one, Russell been enamoured with Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, and Disco music. After starting as a jazz pianist at 16 and building a moderately successful career in his 20s as a Disco and Funky House DJ/Producer in DC, NYC, Vegas, and Boston, Russell created his own record label in DC and now NYC called "Return Records" that seeks to become a “Motown” for the digital age. Return Records distributes with The Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment and specializes as an artist collective for "classic" sounds mixed with today's influences for Disco, Funk, R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, and House music with an emphasis on providing sustainable distribution, promotion, touring, and publishing support. Russell's long-time collaborator Barry Griffin known as "Beat Kollab" from Fairfax, Virginia has been a guiding force in Russell's musical genre, and has collaborated with several artists notable artists from Daddy Yankee and Baby Sham to George Acosta and Thievery Corporation.
